Application of GIS Technique to Assess the Habbaniya Lake Water for Human Consumption

Geographic Information System (GIS) technique was used in this study to produce a Water Quality Index (WQI) map assess the water of Habbaniya Lake for drinking purposes. Sixteen samples fresh surface were collected and analyzed verify physiochemical parameters WQI. These include Total Dissolved Solids, pH, Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Sulfate, Nitrates. The result these has been transferred GIS platform construct quality database spatial distribution each parameter using inverse distance weight (IDW technique). results also calculate irrigation index values, production map. is depicted on It shows that WQI all within second category (50-100) except (S 5 S 8) below (<50). short-scope indicates considered as convergent fluctuated from excellent good human drinking. northwestern part waters more appropriate since Al-Warar Canal drains part, which takes its mainly Euphrates River.
